Art has always been my true purpose in life. For years, my focus was on building homes, structures, businesses, things that had weight, purpose, and a timeline. But the drive to create in a more personal, expressive way never left. It was always there, quietly woven into how I saw the world.

Coming back to art hasn’t just been fulfilling, it’s been revitalizing. I find myself constantly "seeing things again for the first time," the form, color, light, and balance. It’s not just about making something beautiful, it’s about understanding what gives something its' presence and impact.

With decades of hands-on experience in construction and life itself, I bring a grounded, lived-in understanding to my work. 

This has lead to a deliberate choice to create my work primarily in oil on thin wood panels. The stability and responsiveness of wood allows me to engage the surface with more than just brushes. I often use knives, scrapers, and found tools to carve, layer, and manipulate the paint, creating textures, lines, and tonal depth that push beyond traditional applications. 

This approach invites a tactile interaction with the medium—part painting, part excavation—revealing layers of form and feeling that emerge through both precision and force. The panel becomes not just a surface, but a partner in the process, grounding the energy and weight of each mark. 

My painting is rooted in structure, yet open to spontaneity. It reflects both the discipline of craftsmanship and the freedom of expression, which has allowed to connect more deeply with the world, and with something within myself that’s been there all along.
